The official list below only shows time slots reserved not confirmed exams. Check with your teacher whether or not the final exam for a course will be conducted during this time.

Locations

The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams. Please consult individual exam pages for additional guidelines, conditions and guidelines and exam material. If you require special accommodations due to a chronic illness or hearing or visual impairment, please contact the exam provider directly and be sure to provide detailed documentation upon registration.

Faculty may find their exam times via the "View My Teaching Schedule" task on the Faculty Dashboard in Workday. In addition, the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for courses in which an exam is required by NYSED regulations. For evening classes exams, they are scheduled during the regular class time during the week of the exam.

Registration

In addition to the exam schedule, students should familiarize themselves with the exam guidelines and the terms and conditions. These are on the webpage for each exam. Upon registration, students acknowledge that they accept these terms and conditions.

Exam locations will do their best to accommodate participants with special requirements. The nature and severity of these needs should be noted on the registration form and confirmed by an attestation of a doctor. Additionally the locations for the exam must be kept confidential.

If a student is scheduled to take three tests on the same day, they should contact their instructor or department in order to schedule a retake test. It is possible to have three examinations on the same day. However, this can cause a lot of stress and affect the quality of the exam. Additionally, the professor might not be able to offer a makeup exam on another day.

Before taking the exam, students must prepare by reviewing their course material and practice their German skills. The exam is a paper-based test that measures the ability to speak, read, and write in German. The results of the test are presented using a scale ranging from A1 to C2. Students who succeed in passing the test are awarded the Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate certifies that the student has achieved the level of A1 in their language. This level corresponds with the first level of the six-level scale of competence that is outlined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The test is free. Students should bring a valid government-issued ID to the test. Those without a valid photo identification will be disqualified.

Fees

You must pay an examination fee in order to obtain the Goethe-Zertifikat (start German 1) after you have completed your Elan Academy studies. This fee is in addition to the course fee.

Practice tests let you get familiar with the format of the questions, their wording, and the difficulty of the questions on the test. They can help you evaluate your knowledge, spot gaps and increase your chances of acing the test.

Please note that the exam fee isn't refundable. Exam results can only be accessed via email and not by phone.
